Saul Griffith has a killer presentation, but that's not the main
attraction. The main attraction is realizing how far we are from
grasping what dealing with climate change actually entails.
MacArthur Genius engineer Griffith did the math, working backward from
the 16 terawatts of energy that humanity currently uses to run
civilization, and working forward to what amount and kinds of energy
it will take to even slow down climate change. Realistically, we
can't make it.
Now what?...
"Climate Change Recalculated," Saul Griffith, Cowell Theater, Fort
Mason, San Francisco, 7pm, FRIDAY, January 16. The show starts
promptly at 7:30pm. Admission is free (a $10 donation is always
welcome, not required).
Inventor Saul Griffith is co-founder of Squid Labs, a "do-tank" based
in Emeryville, California. He was made a MacArthur Fellow in 2007.
