Perhaps it is the case that the window of opportunity for geoeng doesn't so much close as get rapidly smaller. In general the sooner the relevant earth systems adjustments are implemented the better--the longer we wait the more likely will be a cascading of non-benign effects of global warming so that we find ourselves very much in the position of running to catch up as what we are chasing rapidly picks up speed....so yes, by all means do the relevant sums, while acknowledging that we really don't have enough information to know whether or not the sums we are doing are the relevant ones, given the complexity of the systems we are interacting with.
