The video is a short clip in which mature chestnut trees are being cut
and turned into biochar on site in a kiln. The company promoting the
process, Carbon Gold, intends to export it to developing countries.
One scientist voices the concern that simply cutting down trees in
this way exposes the underlying leaf litter and biomass which may
itself undergo accelerated decomposition and release even more CO2
than the trees if left alone.  Just as you can't "plant a forest," you
can't "cut one down" either.  Selective harvesting of tree biomass
would lessen the impact.
