The piece circulated previously was two weeks before the Bali conference, i.e.
It is interersting and important that he is reiterating his previous concern

UN's Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon met Finnish President Tarja Halonen at the
presidential palace today. Ban also spoke at the Finnish parliament, Eduskunta:
“Scientific community warns that time runs out”, the Secretary-General said.
”Many of the world's top scientists' forecasts of only two years ago have
already their worst-case scenarios being fulfilled and in some cases exceeded.
The consequences to the people, economy and for our whole planet are serious.”

Ban described having seen the effects with his own eyes. ”The continental ice
shelves are breaking up on the Antarctica. The glaciers are melting on the
Andes. Only by acting now we can influence the approaching catastrophe.” Ban
appealed for a comprehensive and intensive climate treaty. Besides for
combating the climate change, it would spur new green economy investments and
innovation, the Secretary-General said. ”The clock is ticking. Time is running
and there are only less than 200 days for Copenhagen summit."

Thanks Albert for sending this article by the United Nations
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. I believe it correctly emphisises the
seriousness of the situation in the Antarctic. But does anyone know how to
rotate a scanned image in pdf?

I have been preoccupied with FIPC to work on presentation as the President
of the United Nations General Assembly agreed a new climate change risk class:
"Paleofuture Risks".

I was finally able to get His Excellency Ban Ki Moon about the sudden sea
level surges a copy of which is enclosed.

Over the past 50 years, the Antarcic Peninsula has been one of the fastest
warming places on the planet. Many of its ice shelves have retreated in that
time and six of them have collapsed completely (Prince Gustav Channel, Larsen
Inlet, Larsen A, Larsen B, Wordie, Muller and the Jones Ice Shelf).
