Sure,  use the material. My background in this area is that I work on using
O3 for sterilizing surgical instruments. I am not a chemist but the
chemistry is pretty well known.

that UV breaks up the oxygen molecule to form two O1 atoms, each of which
combines with a O2 molecule to form O3. This is the classic explanation for
how O3 is produced in the atmosphere. Right now the UV from the sun is way
down because sunspots produce most of it. Ozone production is way down. And
now may be a good time to do atmospheric chemistry since not too much is
going on. There may still be enough UV to convert SO2 to H2S04. The point of
all this is don’t ignore the chemistry. This is fairly straightforward but a
lot can be going on.

Do not ignore that the basic effect is that OH and O2H radicals are produced
by ozone interacting strongly with H2 and even with H2O or other molecules
containing hydrogen moieties. Both radicals are incredibly strong oxidizers
and have a short lifetime, perhaps a minute or less if there are
hydrocarbons around. *They do not destroy the ozone, the H2 and other
molecules do*. The water may be a factor. If a volcano produces H2, it will
harm the ozone layer. The radicals are not the cause but the result.



[Incidentally the idea of a hydrogen economy, e.g., fueling vehicles with
hydrogen fuel cells is total insanity. Leakage would destroy the ozone layer
quickly just as did the old time refrigerants.]

 Notice where the acid rain comes from. Notice that UV converts SO2 to H2SO4.
I am not sure what role OH plays but it seems to be unimportant in the
process of interest.
