I'm not sure this call for papers ever made it to 'geo'. The abstract
deadline is tomorrow. There's the chance of a jolly to Montana if your work
is accepted, so well worth applying for.

Please draw the following to the attention of suitable graduate
students:

CALL FOR PAPERS

Graduate students in geosciences, engineering, philosophy, public
policy, sociology, and other relevant disciplines are invited to apply
to participate in a workshop on The Ethics of Geoengineering with
Solar Radiation Management to be held at the University of Montana in
Missoula, October 18th-20th, 2010. This National Science Foundation
sponsored workshop will bring leading experts in the science of solar
radiation management and climate change together with ethicists and
policy experts to discuss the major ethical issues confronting
proposals to deliberately engineer the climate.

To apply, interested graduate students should submit a CV and an 800
word abstract of a paper on some aspect of the ethics of
geoengineering with solar radiation management. Highly competitive
students whose proposals are accepted will have their travel and
lodging paid for by the organizers. Exceptional papers may be
selected for publication in a special issue of the journal Ethics,
Place, and Environment to be published on the ethics of solar
radiation management after the workshop.

Deadline for submission is June 15th, 2010. Successful applicants
will be notified by July 1st, 2010. Ten page papers will be due to
the workshop organizers by September 25th for posting on-line prior to
the meeting. Please send your application materials and direct any
questions to Blake Francis ([email protected]).

Further details on the workshop, as they become available, can be
found at:
