I consider geoengineering as being in line with a natural
development of our understanding and of utilization of the Earth
system.
About ten thousand years ago, we began to cultivate lands and
domesticate animals without knowing their long-term consequence to the
Earth system and to our society.
The same was true when we began to dig coal as an alternative of
woods for reducing iron-ore and invented a heat engine that eventually
helped to transport hitherto-localized goods to every corner of the
world.
These brought us to where we are now. In the unsustainable human
society.
From here to a sustainable society; therefore, it might take
several hundred years to go.
Geoengineering should include in its scope this point of view.
