There is no doubt that this would be an impressive way to run full scale 
trials for Bright Water. The airgun umbilicals are made to order and the 
controlled spread would be useful to show significant coverage.

I would avoid using any type of mesh if you can help it. The wildlife and 
floating debris will become problematic. Having "Flipper" or an old 
refrigerator found snagged in the mess would not be a good thing and mending 
gear is the last thing you want to do while underway.

The main point of a dual ship/tether configuration is that it gives fast 
acting maneuverer control. Salter's design could simply spin in circles and 
produce a significant BW discharge (if under power). The combination of both 
BW Cloud Whiting and the Salter Tether is a highly flexible combination 
which would be a "rain or shine" operation. But, I would not build a 
prototype just to test BW. Those 2 concepts need independent testing.

You have found the best test platform for BW that can probably be found.

You mentioned the possible interference with the hydrophones. I have no clue 
as to the sounders that they use, but, dense bubbles do cause some ultra 
sonic fish finders to scramble the return signals. I think it would be 
interesting to take multiple ultra sonic soundings along the gear to maybe 
build a 3-D understanding of the bubble cloud behavior while being deployed 
(static sometimes has value). That may help in deploying gear improvements. 

>From what I am looking at as far as this sounding gear and the importance of 
Russell's work, chartering a rig for dedicated trials would seem reasonable. 
You may be able to actually get the gear manufacturer to sponsor some of the 
trial start up cost, even if it is in free modifications.. Here is one .

If Russell's work proves out the way that it is expected to (after small 
scale trial), the manufacturer of this type of gear would most likely be 
highly interested in getting in on the ground floor.
