I heard a new geoengineering idea today, which was somewhat fanciful but very clever.
Use nuclear rockets to divert the orbit of Kuiper belt objects towards the earth, then use the slingshot effect to move the earth to a slightly further orbit. This would take a long time, but maybe asteroids would work too? Posted largely from nerdy delight in such a fun idea. Don't want to buy a hybrid car?
