Proposals for papers on Negative Emissions Technologies are invited for a
special issue of *Process Safety and Environmental Protection*. See

*Process Safety and Environmental Protection*, published by the Institution
of Chemical Engineers and the European Federation of Chemical Engineering,
in collaboration with Elsevier, publishes regular special topic issues. The
August 2012 issue will be dedicated to Negative Emission Technologies –
proposed techniques for removing carbon dioxide from ambient air.

For this issue, we are inviting detailed descriptions of the proposed
techniques, their feasibility, scalability and side effects – both
environmental and social. The proposed techniques include:

   - Afforestation
   - Air Capture
   - Biochar
   - BECCS (Biomass Energy with Carbon Capture and Storage)
   - Enhanced Weathering
   - Land Use Management
   - Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement
   - Ocean Fertilisation

The guest editors responsible for this issue are Professor Richard Darton,
Professor of Engineering Sciences at the University of Oxford (
[email protected]) and Tim Kruger, Manager of the Oxford
Geoengineering Programme ([email protected])

Authors should initially submit a proposal of no more than 200 words in
which they outline their proposed submission. The guest editors will invite
suitable papers based on these abstracts.
The proposals should be submitted by 15 March to [email protected]

The guest editors will then select the most suitable submissions and invite
the authors to prepare a full paper, which will then be submitted and peer
reviewed in accordance with standard journal practice.
