Apparently, I have become a foil to help Clive publicize his book.

Apparently, Clive is telling me that asking difficult questions is
"irresponsible".

This was an email exchange that the writer edited and recast as a debate.

One thing I wrote the writer, he did not see fit to publish:

Dr. Hamilton is apparently evading my question.

I will answer his questions and then you can ask him to answer mine:

They published my answers to Clive's questions (presented as the writer's
questions), but Clive never answered my question.

Clive's strategy was to answer questions with questions rather than answers.
