* Warming-induced increase in aerosol number concentration likely to
moderate climate change : Nature Geoscience [1 Update]

I think one has to be very careful with increasing aerosols in the lower
levels of the atmosphere. Increasing aerosols in the lower atmosphere has been well known to increase the albedo of the planet.

However if you don't have the correct paramaterised vertical velocity
distributions for the lowest parts of the atmosphere, then you will get the dissipation and removal of increased aerosol concentrations wrong.

In certain parts (POCS for example in startocumulus clouds), aerosols are completely removed. Thus unless you get the smaller scale weather processes right (precip cumulus clouds will do this hoovering very well)

This a a big cause of concern that I feel was not well addressed in this paper (I could well be wrong!)

Cheers
Alan

I think it's worth noting that the magnitude of the feedback is small.
Their order-of-magnitude estimate is -0.01 W m-2 K-1. Locally it gets
larger, and the idea is very interesting, but I'm ...more
