The Ocean Challenge competition addresses the problem of ocean acidification http://www.pgafoundations.com/oceanchallenge/TemplateSubmissions.aspx?contentId=3 Twenty nine entries have been received and are now open for public comment. My entry is listed as #25 under the heading *Organic Mariculture and Biosequestration. *As well as ocean acidification it also addresses global warming using what I believe is a novel concept and technology under the general carbon dioxide removal (CDR) geoengineering heading. From my point of view it appears to offer the best prospects for acceptance and usefulness. Validating R&D, sea trials and international scientific monitoring will be required, funds for which may become available from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation on negotiation. I will happily consider collaborating with any research institute, corporation, or organisation that is prepared to consider studying or implementing my concept. My intellectual property in the concept is free to the world, but a social licence to use it should evolve out of public discourse and forums such as this.
I am asking that interested members of this Geoengineering Google Group view my submission and, where they have a constructively critical, supportive or elaborative comment, to submit it. Members may wish to comment on one or more of the competing submissions. Members may also wish to discuss my proposals on this forum. Understandably, the competition administrators restrict the size and form of submissions. Should members wish to study my concept and its ramifications in greater detail, I ask them to contact me by email on [email protected]. I am prepared to send to most inquirers the full paper and other supporting documents, such as the comparison I make with ocean fertilisation using ferrous sulphate. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "geoengineering" group.
