Fall AGU Session on the Southern Ocean Session A065: The Southern Ocean: Clouds, Aerosols and the Air-Sea Interface Convenors: C. Bretherton (U. Washington), C. Jakob (Monash U.), P. Quinn (NOAA/PMEL), R. Weller (WHOI) This session brings together observational and modeling research on clouds, aerosols and air-sea interaction over the sparsely observed Southern Ocean. Here, climate models underestimate low cloud, confront uncertainties in cloud-nucleating aerosol concentrations and ice/mixed phase processes, and often overpredict wind stress, affecting cloud feedbacks and precipitation globally.
