Climate engineering may assist global warming fight Updated 3 September 2013, 8:40 AEST Climate engineering is a technological solution that could have big impacts on the Pacific. The process involves adusting the climate favourably in some parts of the world like North America and Europe, but it could lead to much lower temperatures in the Pacific. Dr. Philip Wiles, the Pacific Islands Global Ocean Observing Systems Officer at SPREP, says that the process of Climate Engineering attempts to change global temperatures by reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and deflecting the sunlight.
