I can't seem to cut and paste from this page. However, it's of interest
particularly to those concerned with the impact of OIF on marine biota. The
principal finding is that climate-influenced upwelling-driven chemical
changes significantly alter diatom communities (and thus likely alter
carbon export to benthic strata) . Such 'natural' effects need to be
overlaid onto anthropogenic perturbations in nutrient levels associated
with OIF and other schemes involving artificial fertilization of the mixed
layer.
