In 2012 and early 2013 the African Academy of Sciences, in partnership with the SRM Governance Initiative (www.srmgi.org), ran a series of workshops to introduce SRM to a range of African stakeholders and encourage open discussion of SRM research and governance. The workshops brought together over 100 participants from 21 different African countries, including scientists, policymakers, journalists and academics. Last week a report on the three meetings was published, and it tries to reflect the nature of the discussions and the range of views expressed, without attempting to come to any consensus conclusions.
