In 2012 and early 2013 the African Academy of Sciences, in partnership with 
the SRM Governance Initiative (www.srmgi.org), ran a series of workshops to 
introduce SRM to a range of African stakeholders and encourage open 
discussion of SRM research and governance.  The workshops brought together 
over 100 participants from 21 different African countries, including 
scientists, policymakers, journalists and academics.  Last week a report on 
the three meetings was published, and it tries to reflect the nature of the 
discussions and the range of views expressed, without attempting to come to 
any consensus conclusions.  It can be downloaded here:
