There is an element in the last ten minutes of the question section of the talk that really struck me as profoundly positive. This idea is that we are, collectively, gardeners of the earth whether we like it our not...and we might as well get good at it. As gardeners, we don't pretend to control every element of what we tend. However, we direct the environment to cultivate conditions that are conducive towards the progress of not only agriculture, but adaptation and evolution as well.
