Description:
The Forum for Climate Engineering Assessment (www.ceassessment.org) is a
scholarly initiative within the School of International Service, American
University. We seek a part-time program assistant to join a team working on
a new funded project. The project looks at the international governance of
climate engineering ("geoengineering"), a term that refers to a set of
emerging technological responses to climate change. The Part-time Program
Assistant will provide administrative and programmatic support to the
project team. Responsibilities include the full range of administrative and
clerical functions. In addition, this person is responsible for
programmatic support that may include: processing and tracking payment
requests, assisting with event planning, editing, proof reading, and
maintenance of the Forum for Climate Engineering webpage, and other tasks.

The Part-time Program Assistant reports directly to the international
governance of climate engineering program manager, and acts as a crucial
liaison with the university administration.

The ideal candidate will already have a deep interest in, and knowledge
about, the domestic and international conversation about climate change. To
be a good fit with the project team, candidates should demonstrate a real
curiosity and an interest in learning about an important new subject area.

Responsibilities include:

Create and maintain program, financial, and contract files, both in paper
form and electronicallyProcess and track payment requests, travel expense
reports, documents for signature, narrative and financial reports, credit
card reconciliation, etc.Provide general administrative support including
mailing, scanning, faxing and copying Assist with publishing and
consolidating reports, brochures and info-graphics (knowledge of MS
Publisher is preferred)Research on funding opportunitiesAssist with event
planning for conferences and other events being organized by the Forum for
Climate Engineering AssessmentDraft, edit, and update content for the Forum
for Climate Engineering Assessment's websiteEducational Requirements:
Status as a graduate student at American University is preferable but not
required.

Minimum Requirements:

High level of attention to detail, excellent organization, flexibility,
multi-tasking, and the ability to work independently and with team
membersExcellent written and oral communication skillsProficiency in
MS-Office and background with web content management systemsMust
demonstrate the ability to complete a high volume of work to meet deadlines
