Many have forgotten that at the 2009 Copenhagen COP Lomborg paid for a 
large billboard advert which said that trying to cut CO2 “isn’t going to 
work” and that there were better ways to “fix the climate”.  The billboards 
directed to people to a 2009 briefing for policymakers that listed SRM 
research as two of the top three methods for fixing the climate.

John and I saw Lomborg’s 2009 campaign as a landmark moment: the first 
prominent attempt from an opponent of carbon cuts to dangle SRM as an 
alternative to UN climate negotiations.  We disagreed with the analysis and 
the campaign and we set out our reasons in the blog post. You will make 
your own minds up as to whether we’re playing man or ball – the 2009 report
