Dear Colleagues, On 9th August the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published its Working Group I report<https://www.ipcc.ch/report/sixth-assessment-report-working-group-i/>, on the physical science basis of climate change, the first contribution from its long awaited Sixth Assessment Report (AR6).
The report presents a stark assessment of how human-induced climate change is increasingly widespread, rapid, and intensifying. UN Secretary-General António Guterres referred to the report's findings as 'a code red for humanity' with greenhouse gas emissions choking our planet and putting billions of people at immediate risk and global heating affecting every region on Earth, with many of the changes becoming irreversible. So, what does the report say about solar radiation modification (SRM)? and what policy implications might this have? The Carnegie Climate Governance Initiative (C2G) has reviewed the report and prepared a new briefing note<https://bit.ly/AR6_PB> summarising key findings from the report's assessment relating to SRM, along with some initial analysis by C2G of potential policy implications. C2G has also published a dedicated landing page for the IPCC AR6 related resources <https://www.c2g2.net/intergovernmental-panel-on-climate-change/> which will feature further briefings, knowledge products, events and activities to catalyse learning, and discussions about the implications for the governance of climate-altering approaches. We invite you to join us on this learning journey. ======================= Anita Nzeh Knowledge Management Officer Carnegie Climate Governance Initiative (C2G) London, United Kingdom Email: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> | Mobile: +447885910181 | Twitter: Anitatriple7 | Skype: Anita Nzeh [signature_1458376433]<https://www.c2g2.net/> www.c2g2.net<https://www.c2g2.net/> Follow C2G on [signature_1112368414]<https://twitter.com/c2g2net> [signature_1319989311] <https://www.facebook.com/C2G2net> [signature_1592640371] <https://www.linkedin.com/company/carnegie-climate-governance-initiative> Disclaimer The information contained in this communication from the sender is confidential.
