The Faculty is committed to the delivery of high-quality courses that combine academic rigour with relevance to employment opportunities for graduates. This position is based at Southern Cross University’s National Marine Science Centre, Coffs Harbour, northern NSW, Australia (near Byron Bay). The Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow (Aerosol Science) is responsible for conducting research on aerosol – cloud microphysics – radiation interactions over the Great Barrier Reef as well as conducting laboratory based characterisation of sea salt aerosols produced from atomising nozzles. The nozzles include various designs being assessed for the purposes of marine cloud brightening and fogging as intervention to mitigate coral bleaching. The fundamental research on the atmospheric interactions of the GBR includes field campaigns conducted by aircraft, ocean going research vessels, and island based research facilities. The appointee will work with technical staff, other researchers and external national and international partners within the cooling and shading sub-program to design, implement, and operate a comprehensive set of atmospheric aerosol, and radiation instrumentation onboard research aircraft. Research Fellow - Level B: A remuneration package of up to $140,609 per annum if offered for a Lecturer appointment, inclusive of the full-time equivalent base salary of $101,544 - $120,179 per annum and 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Level A: the remuneration package for an Associate Lecturer appointment is up to $112,992 per annum inclusive of the full-time equivalent base salary of $71,728 - $96,574 per annum and 17% employer's contribution to superannuation. Appointees with a PhD would have a minimum salary of $90,112 per annum. About you Applications are invited from academics with demonstrated experience working with aerosol instrumentation. The position requires high levels of technical knowledge, problem solving ability, and academic curiosity. The position has a high degree of autonomy and the successful applicant is expected to be capable of designing and implementing appropriate sampling strategies, including operating and troubleshooting instrumentation in the field.
