Hello! I bring to you this time a small list of recent publications, videos,
podcasts on the topics of Geoengineering.

Enjoy! Hope we all have a great week

*CARBON REMOVAL | What If We Fail? Reflecting Sunlight and the SRM Debate*
https://youtu.be/v3tXt1dFt0k?list=PLF8369A27273314D8

by Marcus Sonoma

This film is an honest attempt at unpacking the ever contentious world of
Solar Radiation Management — a set of proposals to counter global warming
by reflecting sunlight back into space.
A big thank you to my awesome guests:
- David Keith (Professor of Applied Physics at the Harvard)
- Zeke Hausfather (Climate Lead @Stripe)
- Jesse Reynolds (Executive Secretary, Climate Overshoot Commission)
Though this may be a brief departure from Carbon Removal I believe
understanding SRM further bolsters the case for Carbon Removal as well as
reminding us of the utter urgency for massive emissions reductions.

by MEER - Mirrors for Earth's Energy Rebalancing

The most recent IPCC report concludes sulfur emissions decreased global
warming by about 0.5 °C. This is significant, but there is an uncertainty
between 0.1-0.9°C. Now that the world is rapidly reducing sulfur emissions
for environmental and health regulations through the use of cleaner fuels
and with flue gas cleaning systems, the world could experience rapid
warming from reduced dimming. Sulfur particles (aerosols) are light and
bright particles, which also act to make clouds more reflective. The
reduction of ~80% of sulfur emissions from shipping provides a research
opportunity to help quantify the effect of these changes. Leon will present
the first results of their study.

*The Weather Control/Geo-Engineering Debate | "Suppressed Science"*

by Curiosity Stream

SUPPRESSED SCIENCE mixes mind-blowing real science with unsolved mysteries,
global conspiracies, & true stories!
WEATHER CONTROL: Human interference with the environment has led us to the
brink of an extinction-level climate change crisis. But perhaps the
solution is not to interfere less with the environment, but actually to
learn how to completely control it.

*Solar Geoengineering Would Be Radical. It Might Also Be Necessary.*
https://freakonomics.com/podcast/solar-geoengineering-would-be-radical-it-might-also-be-necessary/

by FREAKONOMICS

David Keith has spent his career studying ways to reflect sunlight away
from the earth. It could reduce the risks of climate change — but it won’t
save us.

*Making sense of solar engineering*
https://www.canarymedia.com/podcasts/catalyst-with-shayle-kann/solar-geoengineering-is-it-worth-the-risk

by Catalyst

In this episode, Shayle talks to Dan Visioni, a climate modeler who
conducts research on solar geoengineering at Cornell University’s Sibley
School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
They discuss what solar geoengineering might look like in the real world.

*Explore a Low-Carbon Future & the Tradeoffs in Climate Geoengineering*
https://societyriskanalysis.libsyn.com/explore-a-low-carbon-future-the-tradeoffs-in-climate-geoengineering

by Let's Talk Risk

Benjamin K. Sovacool, professor at Boston University, University of Sussex,
and Aarhus University, joins the podcast to discuss his new research on
climate geoengineering. Sovacool dives into the risk tradeoffs of carbon
removal and solar radiation management. His research highlights different
risks in the climate system, and the institutional, political, behavioral,
social and cultural risks that accompany deployment of new technology. To
close out the podcast, Sovacool shares the three policy implications from
the study.
