If anyone is interested, in my 2014 book, Reason in a Dark Time (p. 206ff) I argued that "geoengineering" is basically an incoherent concept, in part because scientists and engineers from different research traditions and disciplinary backgrounds have forwarded proposals that reflect their own interests.
