Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to host Gideon Futerman for a presentation on:
"What's the worst that could happen? Exploring the interaction of SRM and Global Catastrophic Risk" at our next Thursday Feb. 8, 2024, 4:30 PM EST HPAC General Meeting. The (recurring) Zoom link for HPAC General Meetings is here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88954851189?pwd=WVZoeTBnN3kyZFoyLzYxZ1JNbDFPUT09 Gideon Futerman is a researcher who has been working on the interaction of SRM and Global Catastrophic Risk since Summer 2022. His work has involved exploring conflict and SRM, workshops and scenarios to explore the range of possible futures involving SRM, and SRM and climate tipping points, as well as more broadly looking at how to conceptualise Global Catastrophic Risk. Gideon has been involved in the broader 'geoengineering' space for 5 years, first as a youth activist with Worldward, and now as a researcher. He is currently a student at the University of Oxford. The workshop report that much of Gideon's talk will be based on is here <https://www.cser.ac.uk/media/uploads/files/SRM_workshop_report_003.pdf>.
