Updated report – The Solar Geoengineering Ecosystem: Key Actors Across the
Landscape of the Field

The Alliance for Just Deliberation on Solar Geoengineering (DSG) and the
Forum on Climate Engineering Assessment (FCEA) have released the latest
edition of their landmark report, The Solar Geoengineering Ecosystem: Key
Actors Across the Landscape of the Field. Originally published in November
2023, this version (updated in January 2025) captures the dynamic shifts
and growing momentum in this critical area of climate intervention.

As public interest, scientific research, and policy discussions around
solar geoengineering (also known as solar radiation modification, or SRM)
accelerate, the revised report provides a comprehensive resource for
understanding the field’s evolving landscape. It highlights who is
involved, their accomplishments, and what might come next, across diverse
sectors, institutions, and geographies.

Authored by Professor Wil Burns and Dr. Shuchi Talati, the report
demystifies the global SRM ecosystem for policymakers, researchers, and the
public. By reducing barriers to understanding this rapidly evolving field,
the report aims to promote informed engagement and thoughtful governance.
