The Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences (GES) at the
University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a full-time,
non-tenure-track 9-month appointment as a Senior Instructor. GES
(clas.ucdenver.edu/ges <http://clas.ucdenver.edu/ges>) seeks an
instructor who can enhance the curriculum in environmental science,
human-environment interaction, and/or environmental geography. Desired
teaching concentration areas include: water-atmosphere interactions,
hydro-climatology with linkages to contemporary water systems/
management, biogeochemistry, water quality within a context of the
land-water system and its management, and possibly field methods in
physical geography. The position is primarily dedicated to the
educational mission of GES with 70% of the job devoted to teaching. This
70% effort equated to teaching seven (7) courses each academic year,
with the additional 30% devoted to service activities. Twenty percent
(20%) of the service component of the position will support the graduate
programs, including graduate student services, and 10% will include
participation in general department and college functions. The
successful person will principally support the GES teaching
mission/needs, including delivering high quality introductory, upper
division and graduate courses related to the applicants’ areas of
specialization, and complementing GES offerings. Commitment to
excellence in teaching is expected.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Geography or related field



Required Compentencies/Skills/Abilities: Experience in teaching and
student advising at the university-level.



Desired Qualifications: Experience working with graduate programs.
