The Department of Geography & Environmental Sciences (GES) at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track 9-month appointment as a Senior Instructor. GES (clas.ucdenver.edu/ges <http://clas.ucdenver.edu/ges>) seeks an instructor who can enhance the curriculum in environmental science, human-environment interaction, and/or environmental geography. Desired teaching concentration areas include: water-atmosphere interactions, hydro-climatology with linkages to contemporary water systems/ management, biogeochemistry, water quality within a context of the land-water system and its management, and possibly field methods in physical geography. The position is primarily dedicated to the educational mission of GES with 70% of the job devoted to teaching. This 70% effort equated to teaching seven (7) courses each academic year, with the additional 30% devoted to service activities. Twenty percent (20%) of the service component of the position will support the graduate programs, including graduate student services, and 10% will include participation in general department and college functions. The successful person will principally support the GES teaching mission/needs, including delivering high quality introductory, upper division and graduate courses related to the applicants’ areas of specialization, and complementing GES offerings.
