Marc,
No help on map parameters, but I thought it would be worth pointing out one
of the details you must deal with. On NTS maps, and in fact most government
maps based on lon/lat outlines, North is up at the centre of the map. This
is quite different from the local coordinate Y up (usually UTM), which is
the standard map convention in OASIS montaj up to and including 4.2.
However, 4.3 has a new GX NEWMAPLL that allows you to set up a map for a
lon/lat boundary. In addition, this GX applies a rotation to the data view
coordinate system (by applying a rotation warp) so that North is up. Pretty
cool really.
So, base your new GX on NEWMAPLL.
Good luck,
Ian

Subject: [geonet]: map surrounds
Hello all,
I am planning on building a utility which would allow you to build a map
which matched a given printed map. For example, in Canada you would specify
the NTS sheet name and it would set up a map with the appropriate data
limits, surrounds and projection. Neat eh? However to make it work I need
to build a database containing all that information.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a source I would appreciate it
muchly. Not just Canada, but the US, Aus, anywhere.
After I get my hands on it I will compile it into a database which will be
available to anyone for free (the database that is) from my website.
Thanks for any help or tips anyone might be able to give.
