Chris,

We have large GDB's (~0.75-1.5GB) on our NT4.0-SP4 server which is backed up
daily by IT guys. I do another backup of those GDB's weekly from my local
machine (NT4.0-SP4) using the HP-SurStore DAT8 tape drive. I checked the
logs and didn't notice anything unusual.

Just remembered; I had a PKZipped file (~100MB) of a GDB (~400MB) which was
created in late SP's of Oasis montaj 4.1, which I couldn't backup using the
same tape drive. I unzipped it and had no problem backing up the GDB. I
wonder if your problem comes from the compression feature of the current
version (4.3-SP3) of Oasis montaj. I would try "Data | Maintenance | Repair"
menu before going to the next stage of trouble-shooting!

Good luck,

Subject: [geonet]: NT Server Backup of montaj GDB

We occasionally back up Win98 network client PCs to our NT Server machine's
DAT drive by
temporarily mapping a drive letter to the client hard drive. Lately, while
trying to backup up a
directory containing a ~500Mb montaj GDB file, the Backup program reports
that the GDB file
is corrupt and bypasses it, although montaj reports no problem with the GDB
file. It's happened
despite repeated attempts. I don't recall ever having that problem in the
past.

Has anyone else ever seen this?
