Floating point exceptions in 5.0.2 and 5.0.3

Some of our users have reported a floating point exception in Oasis montaj 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 (released November 1, 2000). A floating point exception occurs when the floating point processor attempts to do something arithmetically impossible and is unable to recover. This problem is limited to a subset of computers, most notably some Celeron processors. If an exception occurs, you will see an abort message. The majority of users are not affected and can continue working in 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 as usual. For the benefit of users who want to know more, we have provided detailed information on our web site at www.geosoft.com/Oasismontaj5.0/5.0v4note.html.

Geosoft is addressing the floating point exception by accelerating the release of Oasis montaj 5.0.4 which is planned to will be available the end of next week. Our recommendation is that all users upgrade to 5.0.4 when it is released. In the meantime, if you need a quick solution to a problem, please contact your Technical Support Representative. We thank you for your understanding and support of our Oasis montaj software and technology.
