Dear List: Many of you have already been informed of the release of Geosoft's new 3D Surface Display technology through our Technical Connection email newsletter. For the benefit of those who are not subscribed, a note about 3D Surfaces is provided below. For those who are already aware of this information, please ignore this message. Regards Greg Geosoft is pleased to announce the availability of a new 3D Surface Display technology in the 5.0.5 release of Oasis montaj. This technology is designed for earth science professionals who want to interpret results, create data compilations, or present results to technical or non-technical decision-makers using 3D perspective views. Licensed Geosoft users can create a 3D perspective view of any Geosoft supported grid or image file format by: * Draping a coloured grid or image file over a data grid. The image file can be a satellite image, geology image, geophysical grid, etc. The data grid can be a topographic surface, digital elevation model (DEM), geophysical grid, etc. * Displaying any Geosoft map aggregate image (i.e. default or custom mapping of a colour palette to grid values) over a topographic or other grid. Users of the Oasis montaj free interface -- a robust view / print / conversion tool that supports a wide variety of standard data types -- can also access the new technology. New capabilities include viewing, zooming and rotating 3D Surface views created in Geosoft maps or e-maps. For example, a manager can view 3D perspectives in maps received from a technical professional working on a remote job site.
