Hello Dave,

I think the tool you are looking for is the SetDataV gx. Its used as 
follows:
SETINI         SETDATAV.MAP="c:\\projects\\my.map"
SETINI         SETDATAV.VIEW="GRID"
GX             setdatav.gx

Unfortunately you have to specify the map. I don't think there is a way 
to do it on the current map.
