The problem could be with usgs_sfdepth.gx but usgs_sfdepth.gx call usgf_openpost.gx that import the binary post files.pst from sfdepth in a geosoft database.
You can try to run the usgs_openpost.gx and select the *.pst from your working directory and you will have the same error message. The post file is an unformatted sequential binary file. If you try to import it with usgs_impost.gx (an old version of openpost) you get some mix results on the first 41 lines.
