Dear Essam et al.,

When I use GMSYS3D, I work with density contrasts because with absolute
densities the results are quite odd.

Having said that, if your layer has the same density as the Gravity data
reduction, your density contrast will be zero. To have any results from your
inversion I think you have to increase the density for your basement, for
instance, to 2.70 g/cm3 (or the density that corresponds to the assumed type of
rocks you have in your basement).

I hope this helps.

BR,

Conxi

Asunto: [geonet] Density in GMSYS3D

Dear all......

When I use GMSYS3D in gravity inversion, I have some questions.
When adding gravity survey, it asks for background density (in the help file,
it is the density used in Gravity data reduction, (e.g. 2.67)). If I add one
layer (e.g. basement) it will have similarity density (e.g. 2.67). the
inversion will not see any variation in density contrast to invert basement
surface.

All what I have is gravity survey and topography data, and would like to invert
the basement.

regards

Essam
