We just released GeoNode 1.0-beta!

What does this mean? After much discussion this afternoon, David and I
settled on the following:

(1) We have tagged master at its current commit as GeoNode 1.0-beta

On github: http://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/tree/1.0-beta
More on git tags: http://bit.ly/3oSGOT

(2) New development should go on the new branch 'synth'. All our previous
policies/practices for developing on master should be transferred to
developing on synth.
On github: http://github.com/GeoNode/geonode/tree/synth

(3) The release manager (me) will be responsible for pulling bug fixes from
synth to master, and tagging new fix releases towards 1.0

(4) You can download the release bundle at
http://dev.geonode.org/GeoNode-1.0-beta.tar.gz

(5) The live site is now using 1.0-beta release. Please test and assign any
bugs you find to the milestone '1.0 Release'

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to get us to
this release. We are now officially on the last stretch to 1.0!
