When GeoNode reaches 1.1, master will become the maintenance branch for 1.1.
The synth branch, in general, is where new features for the *next* minor release series are merged. (Seb really didn't like the name 'develop' but other than that we are following the diagram[1] that we've mentioned a few times during this discussion.) All work intended for the 1.0 release should go straight to master, synth won't come into the equation until we start actually doing work for the next release series (1.1). To my knowledge, we'll be working full-steam on 1.0 features until 1.0 is release at the end of this month. [1]: http://nvie.com/git-model -- David Winslow OpenGeo - http://opengeo.org/
