GeoNode development has been rapid and the software looks great. We are
very close to having something that we can call 1.0.

You'll recall that our original schedule was to have 1.0 released by FOSS4G
this year. That looks like it will be too ambitious for us. However, we
have achieved a lot since our official beta release and I think that this
week we can push to get another formal release-- say *1.0-beta2 *-- out by
the end of the week.

Last time this was discussed in channel, David suggested the next formal
release be put out when all the 'major' or higher priority tickets had been
closed. I agree and think this is a great idea.

These are those tickets currently: http://bit.ly/bbZY87

I think we can accomplish these tickets and more this week, even on top of
any other FOSS4G prep we may have. If anyone feels like this is too
difficult a goal to achieve, please bring it up. Maybe there's a way to
share the load to make it work.

I would like us to hold an optional triaging meeting on Wednesday (or
Thursday of somebody who wants to be there can't make it) this week to go
over what's left. I'm open about timing.

We are going to have something amazing to show people at FOSS4G.
