Feel free to use the layer code from worldmap.   I'd be happy to help 
you out if you have any questions about it.  There's a new LayerCategory 
model, and the Layer model's category field was changed to be a foreign 
key to that.  Users can also change the layer's category name within a 
map, which is saved in the MapLayer's 'group' field.
