I have seen some discussion on the GeoTools list about how the latest version of PostGIS changes some conventions (naming mostly) which geotools relies on. I think these issues are mostly resolved but I have not followed the discussion closely.
As long as GeoServer works well with the version of postgis you install, the rest of GeoNode should be fine.
