Jude, Did you install GeoNode by hand or using the Ubuntu packages / cloned an AMI ?
There was a bug in GeoNetwork that caused crashes but there is a workaround for it in the Ubuntu GeoNode installer (and hopefully in the docs too). Sent from my iPad.
