Jeff asked in the #geonode IRC channel for suggestions related to
chef-geonode and the Amazon Web Services AMI.

Here are the ones that came to my mind:

#1 Switch to an EBS based instance because it would make it easier to
upgrade to new versions of the AMI and keep data on a persistent drive
instead of the volatile first generation Amazon instance.

#2 Add the django logging configuration to local_settings.py

#3 Install the native Imageio/jai drivers for GeoServer. This has
great impact when handling raster data.

#4 Use the 1.0.1 release (or current master) instead of GeoNode 1.0,
especially because of the new way media is handled.

Best,
Ariel.
