In my opinion the most useful package is the Ubuntu one. It is easier to either get the latest source from master, build a release tarball or clone chef-geonode and customize the scripts.
The most useful part is being able to apt-get install the latest stable version of GeoNode. And it would be even better if we could setup automated ubuntu packages creation and deployment for master nightly snapshots. My 2 colombian pesos, Ariel.
