I have fixed the two problems you describe in the current master branch and they will be part of the 1.1RC2 release. Make sure you follow the guides in the production notes to configure SITEURL and printing. Also, you can override the templates by copying from their current location into /etc/geonode/templates , try it with the index.html in /var/lib/geonode/src/GeoNodePy/geonode/templates. Ariel.
