I keep up Paul's suppositions. Also, check if you're builing with GEOS_INLINE macro and try to build without it. I've eperienced the inlining strategy as making troubles. I compared rc3 and rc4 and there are no differences related to Coordinate class or WKTReader class. So, I suppose the problem is specific to your environment.
