For those who prefer QGIS, I suggest the QuickWKT plugin where you can paste WKT or WKB. If you select a feature (existing, or just created), copy and paste it in a text application, you will get the WKT. Otherwise (limited to WKT), you may also create a simple .csv file id,WKT 1,"your WKT" 2,"your WKT" and open it with QGIS.
