I was looking for one on the 24th? Apparently that was whem the combo of 
raster + placemarks was covered?

The bug report consists of a links to review sessions or something; what 
I am expecting to see in a solution is the use of a custom "don't label 
anything" LabelCache implementation; some vendor parameter to enable 
that (it may already exist?) and the kml writer linking to these requests...

It was interesting to me me the choice to use templates rather than 
repurpose text symbolizers for KML label + description. This was the 
first time I looked at the templates closely and it makes for a nice 
solution.
