we are right now finalizing the 1.0 release of imageio-ext therefore
these questions come at the right moment.
Now the answers:
1> not with release 1.0 of imageio-ext which build upon gdal 1.4.4
which has no support for bigtiff. Notice that release 1.1 will build
upon gdal 1.5.3 which does support bigtiff.
2> this works usually, it might be an installation problem on your side.
3> same as 2
Conclusion is that to help you out with 2 and 3 I'd need more information.
