it seems that the GDAL extensions isn't available yet as a downloadable zip
from here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=25086&package_id=129885&release_id=666353
Can you take a look on it?
I have also updated the license file and readme file on
1.7.x/release/extensions/gdal
