GeoTools 2.5.x is supposed to be pegged against 2.2-M2.

When you say go we were going to release 2.2-M2 as the GeoAPI 2.2.0
release simply to close off this development stream.

So to answer your question - there is no reas to use 2.2-SNAPSHOT.
