wps on 1.7.x is old and unmaintained. On trunk there is an improved version but even that one is still a work in progress, with no funding behind it. I worked on it for some time, then lost enthusiasm and have let it linger since December. Would be nice to go back to work on it... unfortunately atm I have higher priority stuff to attend to, without explicit funding to get real work time on it I won't be able to get a working WPS anytime soon.
